I have been promising to bring a few of my friends (commonly known as FOBS) to one of our weekly meetings...and I wanted to start off with not only someone I have known for a long time but someone who has been doing some very interesting stuff.
Jaime Bernanke (yes, he is Ben Bernanke's first cousin) is an Emmy Award winning writer and producer of documentaries. While we first met when he was at Nickelodeon back in the early 80s as a promotion writer/producer, he really hit his mark when he was on staff at National Geographic Explorer 1985-1995, including stints as Supervising Writer and Supervising Producer. From 1995 to 1998 he was founding partner of Pangolin Pictures where he wrote and produced films for PBS, National Geographic, Discovery Channel, History Channel, Discovery Health, A&E, Biography Channel, National Aquarium in Baltimore, Pearson Prentice Hall Publishing.
Under his new banner, DoraLou Productions he has written and produced for PBS/Nature, National Geographic Explorer, and is currently finishing up a 25th Anniversary Special for the Explorer show that premiered back in 1985.
We will be getting started a little early, 3:30 in order to get our regular business out of the way by 4 and spend a good hour talking with Jaime, hopefully seeing clips of some of his exciting projects and give you a chance to ask questions of this award winning writer/producer.
